Job Description

The Restaurant General Manager (RGM) plays a crucial role within this dynamic company, acting as the primary leader responsible for the overall operational and financial success of the restaurant. The RGM is not only the key point of contact for the restaurant team but also ensures that guest services meet or exceed company standards every day.

In this role, the RGM is accountable for securing company assets, including cash, equipment, and inventory, while ensuring compliance with all safety and health regulations. They oversee employee relations and development by recruiting, training, and mentoring Assistant Managers, Shift Managers, and team members, fostering a positive and motivating work environment. The RGM conducts performance reviews, provides ongoing feedback, and handles employee concerns with professionalism and adherence to legal standards.

Financial management is a major responsibility of the Restaurant General Manager, involving labor cost management, inventory control, cash handling, and conducting audits to protect company assets. Operational responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness, managing preventive maintenance programs, enforcing opening and closing procedures, and ensuring compliance with all municipal, state, and federal regulations.

Customer satisfaction is a top priority, and the RGM leads by example to maintain 100 percent guest satisfaction. They implement effective complaint handling processes and empower their teams to resolve issues promptly. Marketing efforts are also coordinated at the restaurant level, with the RGM executing all marketing programs to maximize business and optimize staffing according to traffic patterns.

To excel in this role, the ideal candidate will have at least three years of restaurant management experience with proven leadership skills, including handling profit and loss responsibilities. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with advanced studies in business or restaurant management preferred. Food safety certification based on local or state requirements is mandatory. The candidate must possess reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license and insurance when required. Personal qualities such as personal effectiveness, strong organizational skills, teamwork, management effectiveness, and analytical abilities are essential to thrive in this challenging and rewarding position.

Job Duties
