The position of Restaurant Executive Chef at the Westin Austin Domain is a pivotal role within the culinary team, responsible for overseeing all culinary operations within the hotel or specific outlets. This hands-on leadership role entails executing recipes with precision, ensuring financial profitability, managing staffing, and adhering to company-standard operating procedures as well as local and federal regulations. The Restaurant Executive Chef is expected to be a subject matter expert in food safety, preparation, and presentation while also serving as a mentor and leader to the culinary staff.

This role demands a strong leader who can foster team engagement, maintain a low turnover rate, and promote internal growth within the department. The chef collaborates closely with other departments such as Sales & Marketing, Event Management, and the front-of-house (FOH) teams to ensure seamless operations and exceptional guest experiences. Additionally, the role involves managing food costs, inventory, ordering, and financial reporting to contribute positively to the profitability of the culinary department.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience as an executive chef or culinary manager in a similar hotel or restaurant setting
  • Strong understanding of culinary techniques and food safety standards
  • Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with financial oversight of culinary operations
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Oversee all culinary operations within the hotel or outlet including recipe execution, financial profitability, staffing, and compliance with SOPs and regulations
  • Serve as a hands-on subject matter expert on safe and delicious food handling, preparation, and presentation
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop culinary team associates to maintain high engagement and low turnover
  • Foster productive relationships with Sales & Marketing, Event Management, FOH teams, and other hotel departments
  • Manage ordering, preparation, marketing, and execution of all recipes and use records, ensuring cost control and profitability
  • Participate actively in property-specific month-end and year-end financial processes and reporting
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, sanitation, and inventory control
