The role of Restaurant Cook at Huddle House involves overseeing the daily operations of the grill and food preparation areas within the restaurant. This position is pivotal in ensuring that all food items are prepared, handled, and stored correctly to maintain the highest standards of quality and safety. The Restaurant Cook works closely with the franchise management team and other staff members to provide exceptional service and uphold the brand’s reputation. Candidates will be expected to arrive on time, adhere to uniform policies, and greet guests warmly to make them feel welcome.

Responsibilities include timely preparation of food orders, completing the station checklist to prepare for subsequent shifts, reporting any concerns such as safety issues or customer complaints promptly to management, and maintaining a thorough knowledge of the menu and daily specials. Additionally, the Restaurant Cook must execute all tasks according to Huddle House’s steps of service, including food safety, cash security, and other operational policies.

This position requires a proactive approach to managing food costs through waste reduction and portion control. It also encompasses a range of cleaning and prep duties to ensure the restaurant operates smoothly. Previous restaurant experience is preferred but not mandatory; however, a positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn are essential. Compensation for this role is offered at $12.00 per hour, providing a competitive wage within the industry and an opportunity for growth. The franchise ownership team is responsible for all hiring decisions, and prospective candidates are encouraged to apply directly to the franchise to become part of this friendly and dynamic team.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous restaurant cooking experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks
  • Knowledge of food safety and handling procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and customers
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all restaurant staff
  • Some previous restaurant experience preferred
  • Can do attitude and willingness to be at your best during your shift

Job Duties

  • Report to work on time in a clean and complete proper uniform
  • Greet all customers with a smile and a verbal greeting such as Good Morning or Welcome to Huddle House
  • Prepare food in a timely manner once the order is placed
  • Complete the position checklist while stocking and preparing the unit for the next shift
  • Bring all items of concern to the attention of the manager immediately, especially safety concerns and customer service complaints
  • Know the menu, the daily features when applicable and be sure they are cooked and presented correctly
  • Know and follow the Huddle House steps of service with each and every guest to maximize shift sales
  • Practice all rules for safety, food handling, cash security and all other restaurant policies
  • Perform all prepping and cleaning duties as detailed or assigned by supervisor
  • Make a difference in food cost by controlling waste and portion control
