Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 4 years experience in culinary, food and beverage, or related area
  • 2-year degree from accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major with 2 years relevant experience
  • Proven leadership skills in kitchen management
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop menus and manage kitchen operations effectively
  • Experience in staff training and development
  • Understanding of budget management and cost control
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to handle customer service issues professionally

Job Duties

  • Develop and design new culinary applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products
  • Supervise restaurant kitchen shift operations and ensure compliance with all Food & Beverage policies, standards, and procedures
  • Maintain food preparation handling and correct storage standards
  • Recognize superior quality products, presentations, and flavor
  • Plan and manage food quantities and plating requirements for the restaurant
  • Communicate production needs to key personnel
  • Assist in developing daily and seasonal menu items for the restaurant
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Follow proper handling and maintain the right temperature of all food products
  • Estimate daily restaurant production needs
  • Prepare and cook foods of all types for regular service or special functions
  • Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to meet standards
  • Determine food presentation and create decorative food displays
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and workers engaged in food preparation
  • Utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others, advocating financial and business decision-making
  • Lead shift teams while preparing food and executing requests based on specifications
  • Manage all day-to-day kitchen operations and understand employee roles to cover in absences
  • Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members
  • Serve as a role model demonstrating appropriate behaviors
  • Maintain employee productivity and cross-training
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships within the team
  • Set and support achievement of kitchen goals including performance, budget, and team objectives
  • Develop specific plans to prioritize and organize daily kitchen operations
  • Manage kitchen operations to meet or exceed property financial goals
  • Investigate, report, and follow-up on employee accidents
  • Implement company safety standards
  • Provide exceptional customer service to ensure satisfaction and retention
  • Manage day-to-day operations ensuring quality and meeting customer expectations
  • Improve service by coaching and providing feedback
  • Handle guest problems and complaints
