This job opportunity is with a restaurant operated independently by a franchisee, rather than directly by Jack in the Box Inc. Being employed here means you will be working under the independent franchisee who holds full responsibility for employment matters including hiring, firing, wages, scheduling, staffing, and supervision. The role offered is designed for individuals eager to demonstrate leadership and management skills within the fast-paced food service environment. As the acting shift leader in the absence of the General Manager, the successful candidate will oversee all operational functions to maintain smooth service delivery and excellent food quality. This role involves managing a team ranging from three to 15 employees, offering direct supervision and training to ensure all staff operate effectively and in harmony. The shift leader is responsible for ensuring all tasks related to food preparation, customer service, supply management, and cash handling are completed with efficiency, accuracy, and according to company standards.

Key responsibilities include managing inventory to prevent waste and theft, forecasting food consumption for shifts, and overseeing daily food preparation and restaurant opening and closing procedures. Candidates will also be required to uphold rigorous service standards, guaranteeing every customer receives world-class service. The role is essential for maintaining the delivery speed and quality expected in a fast-food setting. Additional duties involve routing deliveries, maintaining equipment, resolving operational issues promptly, and ensuring that all transactions and shift audits are conducted flawlessly. Job Requirements

  • Must have strong math skills including addition, subtraction, fractions and percentages
  • Ability to use personal computers and software such as Excel and Word
  • Experience working in food service or restaurant environment

  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and organizational standards

Job Duties

  • Manages a staff of approximately three to 15 employees
  • Provides on-the-job training for all employees
  • Delegates and is responsible for the ordering, receipt, storage and issuing of all food, labor, equipment, cleaning and paper supplies to ensure minimum loss from waste and theft
  • Assists in supervision of food preparation, sales and service
  • Forecasts food items and estimates consumption per shift
  • Supervises food preparation and service operations, assists during rush periods to maintain restaurant efficiency
  • Ensures world-class customer service
  • Routes deliveries and supervises drivers to maximize delivery speed
  • Completes daily food preparation, opening and closing procedures
  • Executes all systems and procedures with integrity and completeness
  • Completes daily and weekly paperwork
  • Responsible for cash drawers during shift
  • Audits previous shift’s procedures
  • Performs preventive maintenance and upkeep on equipment and supplies
  • Performs other related duties as required
