The role of Assistant General Manager at Wooden Paddle is a full-time, salaried position offering a yearly compensation between $55,000 and $75,000, contingent on experience, with additional bonus potential based on sales, profitability, and project completion. This role is perfect for an energetic, hands-on leader who is passionate about hospitality and team development. The Assistant General Manager will be an integral part of the management team, responsible for cultivating a highly efficient and motivated dining room team. This includes providing hands-on, side-by-side coaching, training staff to master service steps, and delivering real-time feedback that promotes continuous growth and elevated performance.

In this role, ensuring every guest receives consistently excellent hospitality from arrival to departure is paramount. The Assistant General Manager will oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning of the restaurant even in high-pressure situations. This person will take charge of staffing and labor cost controls, maintaining optimal levels to balance service quality without exceeding budget. Additionally, they will uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation to guarantee a ready-to-show dining environment.

This position demands a flexible schedule typically consisting of 45 hours per week over five days, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The company supports a semi-set schedule with the benefit of typically having back-to-back days off. Job Requirements

  • At least 3 years of professional serving or hosting experience preferably in high-volume upscale-casual restaurants
  • At least 1 year of experience in an Assistant General Manager or equivalent role in a high-volume restaurant
  • Current ServSafe Manager and BASSET certifications
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Open availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to regularly work approximately 45 hours per week
  • Physically able to stand for long periods and keep pace in a busy restaurant
  • Valid driver's license and sole access to a personal vehicle
  • Familiarity with Toast, SevenRooms, 7Shifts, and Margin Edge is a plus

Job Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of professional serving or hosting experience in high-volume upscale-casual restaurants
  • Minimum 1 year experience as an Assistant General Manager or equivalent in a high-volume restaurant
  • Upscale or fine-dining restaurant experience in an Assistant General Manager role is a major plus
  • Current ServSafe Manager and BASSET certifications
  • Valid driver's license with sole access to a personal vehicle
  • Familiarity with restaurant management software like Toast, SevenRooms, 7Shifts, and Margin Edge is beneficial

Job Duties
