The role of Host/Hostess at this hotel is a critical position that shapes the first impression guests have when dining during breakfast hours. As a Host/Hostess, you will be the welcoming face that greets guests warmly, sets the tone for their dining experience, and ensures the smooth operation of the breakfast service. Your responsibilities will include managing seating arrangements with a focus on fairness and efficiency by using a seating chart rotation system. You will be tasked with maintaining the cleanliness and proper setup of tables and menus before seating guests, ensuring the dining area is inviting and ready for service. Additionally, you will assist with the setup and upkeep of the breakfast buffet, making sure all food and beverage items are replenished and attractively presented throughout the service. Handling phone reservations with professionalism and accuracy will also be part of your role, as will processing guest payments through cash, credit card, or room charges in strict accordance with hotel policies. To succeed in this position, you should possess strong interpersonal skills, a friendly and approachable demeanor, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. Physical stamina is important, as the role involves extended periods of standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year of related experience
  • Alcohol awareness certification preferred
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow reservation and seating procedures
  • Ability to handle cash and credit transactions according to policy

Job Qualifications

  • High school education
  • One or more years of related experience
  • Alcohol awareness certification preferred
  • Familiarity with hospitality industry practices preferred
  • Ability to understand and provide friendly guest service
  • Ability to understand and comply with proper seating chart rotation
  • Ability to process guest bills and payments in compliance with cash handling, credit card transactions, room charge processes and accounting policies and procedures

Job Duties

  • Greet and seat guests properly and issue menus
  • Ensure all tables are properly set before seating guests
  • Ensure all menus are clean
  • Maintain and use seating chart for rotation of stations
  • Organize and maintain a clean service podium
  • Answer the phone properly and follow all reservation procedures
  • Follow all cash handling, credit card transactions and room charge procedures for guest payments
  • Complete assigned side work and related cleaning duties
