Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program
- State certification or registration as a respiratory therapist
- Ability to obtain Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 30 days of employment
- Demonstrated clinical competency in respiratory care practices
- Strong communication and patient assessment skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
Job Qualifications
- Certificate
- State certified respiratory therapy technician or state registered respiratory therapist
- Certified respiratory therapy technician (CRTT), licensed certified respiratory therapist (LCRT), or RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or BCLS instructor certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Job Duties
- Perform and document patient assessment including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure
- Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for and response to respiratory therapy
- Administer respiratory care therapies including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy
- Assist with placement of artificial airways
- Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation
- Monitor patient for therapeutic response and notify provider and intervene in case of unintended response
- Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients
- Respond to emergent patient situations ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation
