Job Description

The Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation has a rich and vibrant history dating back centuries. Originating as a community that farmed, hunted, and fished to survive, the Sycuan Tribe has evolved significantly over the years while maintaining a strong sense of community. Today, the Sycuan Tribe governs its Reservation and owns several business ventures in the San Diego region, including a state-of-the-art Casino and a beautiful Golf Resort. The Tribe is deeply rooted in a tradition of working together to support not only the businesses but also the people within the community. The Sycuan enterprise is more than just a collection of businesses; it is a family committed to excellence and mutual support.

Working at Sycuan means being part of a team that values respect, cooperation, and dedication to exceptional guest experiences. Whether you are employed in the Casino, Resort, or Tribal Government division, you become part of the Sycuan family, contributing to the community's ongoing success and growth.

The role of Restaurant Host/Hostess at Sycuan is vital in ensuring guests receive an outstanding dining experience. This hourly position plays a key role in greeting and seating guests, managing guest flow, and taking food orders over the phone. The Restaurant Host/Hostess acts as the first point of contact for restaurant visitors and must consistently provide friendly, courteous service to enhance guest satisfaction. This role supports servers by relaying food orders accurately and efficiently while monitoring the readiness of tables and managing seating arrangements.

In addition to greeting and seating guests, the Restaurant Host/Hostess promotes positive guest relations by answering questions, providing menu information, and explaining seating programs where applicable. Maintaining clean and safe dining areas is also a part of the responsibility, ensuring that tables and workstations are properly stocked and sanitized according to established procedures.

This position is ideal for candidates who enjoy engaging with people, maintaining professionalism under pressure, and contributing to a welcoming dining environment. The ability to communicate effectively in English, perform basic math calculations, and accept constructive criticism is essential. Physical demands include the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, routinely lift and carry up to 25 pounds, and perform bending and stooping movements.

If you are seeking a community-driven employer that values your contribution and provides opportunities to be part of a vibrant and growing operation, the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation invites you to apply for the Restaurant Host/Hostess position and join their team.
