Job Description

California Hot Springs is a visionary hot springs resort nestled on 300 acres of sacred land in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. This resort stands apart not only for its pristine chemical-free hot water that flows directly from the earth but also for its unique mission to be a beacon of regenerative hospitality. Here, every operational decision is a thoughtful reflection of a deeper purpose: to honor water as a sacred resource and to cultivate a harmonious balance between humanity, nature, and technology. California Hot Springs is more than a retreat center; it is a Water Temple where guests journey into conscious living, personal growth, and community building. The resort embodies an innovative and sustainable model of hospitality that prioritizes respect for the environment, regional culture, and spiritual connection, making it a trailblazer in eco-conscious and transformational travel experiences.

As our Resort Operations General Manager, you will be central to bringing this vision to life. This role is a sacred blend of practical management and spiritual stewardship, requiring a leader who can expertly balance operational excellence with heartfelt intention. You will be working closely with the Owner, fostering a collaborative partnership rather than a conventional top-down leadership structure. This position calls for a dynamic individual with experience in pre-opening systems development, and the capacity to create seamless operational frameworks from the ground up. Your stewardship will encompass everything from overseeing front desk operations and housekeeping protocols to managing maintenance, food and beverage coordination, and the stewardship of natural hot water systems.

As a pre-opening role, you will be instrumental in building and refining operational systems during the resort's final construction phase, ultimately leading the resort post-launch as a 50-key retreat center. Your mission is to nurture a guest environment where adults are invited to engage as autonomous and empowered participants in their own transformative experiences. You will ensure that all practices uphold the resort’s groundbreaking commitment to sustainability, including eliminating single-use items, using 100% biodegradable products, and striving toward a carbon-negative footprint.

Your leadership style will embody shared decision-making within a circular leadership model, where department heads act as peers and collaborators rather than subordinates. You will drive financial and operational performance through strategic P&L management, budget oversight, revenue optimization, and cost control, all while staying true to the resort's soulful values. Cultivating a beloved community among staff and guests is paramount, emphasizing personal development, wellness, and consciousness.

The role also involves coordinating and curating transformational programming such as retreats, ceremonies, and conscious events that enhance guests' healing journeys. As a community steward, you will support regenerative practices and integrate these values into every facet of resort operations, from fire prevention to waste management. This is an exceptional opportunity for a leader committed to sustainability, new paradigms of hospitality, and the transformative power of intentional community living.

The compensation package includes a competitive salary commensurate with experience, comprehensive health benefits, paid time off, floating holidays, and the unique opportunity to live onsite surrounded by healing natural waters and pristine wilderness. This role may begin as a contractor position with a path to becoming a full-time staff member. The position requires flexibility with hours to manage operations effectively and respond to emergencies as they arise. By joining California Hot Springs, you are not just accepting a job—you are embracing a calling to co-create a new way of being and working on Earth, where love, wisdom, and practicality converge to manifest a truly regenerative hospitality experience.
