Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven typing speed with accuracy
  • Reliable internet connection and quiet workspace
  • Ability to work remotely with proactive communication
  • Availability primarily between 6AM-6PM PST, 5-15 hours/week
  • Commitment to punctuality and reliability
  • Willingness to undergo training of approximately 4 hours

Job Qualifications

  • Be a Child of Deaf Adults (CODA) or have experience with deaf accents
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend various English spoken accents
  • Preferably have experience with American Sign Language (ASL) or different deaf dialects
  • Ideally have experience in helping professions related to the Deaf community
  • Strong typing skills with high speed and accuracy
  • Familiarity with using computers and technology
  • Experience working remotely for at least six months

Job Duties

  • Work from home 5-15 hrs/week with 1-2 hour sessions
  • Correct AI-generated captions in real-time for Deaf and Hard of Hearing users
  • Maintain punctuality and effective communication during shifts
  • Adapt to diverse Deaf accents and dialects
  • Participate in training and continuous skill development
  • Collaborate with the Ava team to improve captioning accuracy
  • Ensure reliability by committing to scheduled sessions
