Job Description
Core-Mark is a prominent division of Performance Food Group and stands as an industry leader in providing fresh and broadline solutions specifically tailored for the convenience retail industry. Recognized for its commitment to empowering customers, employees, and communities, Core-Mark has become the largest and most comprehensive marketer of consumer goods in North America. The company offers an extensive range of products, programs, and solutions designed to serve convenience operators across the United States and Canada. Their deep industry expertise coupled with reliable distribution services has positioned Core-Mark as a trusted partner in the retail supply chain, continuously expanding to meet evolving market demands.
This job opportunity is for the position of Relief Shuttle Driver located in Hayward, California with a competitive pay rate of $29.00 per hour. This union-represented role is covered by a collective bargaining agreement which ensures eligible employees receive comprehensive health and welfare benefits through the Teamsters Managed Health Care Trust. Benefits may include medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and life insurance. Additionally, employees might qualify for pension benefits through the Teamsters Pension Plan, with employer contributions aligned with the agreement terms. Employees with alternate qualifying medical coverage can opt for participation in an annuity plan instead of traditional health coverage. All wages, benefits, and eligibility requirements are outlined and governed by the applicable collective bargaining agreements and Trust Funds.
As a Relief Shuttle Driver at Core-Mark, you will play an essential role in the company’s logistics and supply chain operations. Your primary responsibility will be transporting empty trailers to the Operating Company warehouse locations and returning full trailers to the domicile or shuttle yard locations. This role involves driving tandem trailers, tractor trailers, or straight trucks on both interstate and intrastate routes with a strong emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) rules. Your work contributes directly to the efficiency of the supply chain while ensuring timely and safe delivery of various products.
The position requires a versatile team player capable of covering route delivery duties as needed, supporting the broader departmental functions by performing any assigned tasks that ensure exemplary service to the company. Core-Mark values professionalism, effective communication, and commitment to safety, expecting the Relief Shuttle Driver to interact with customers, vendors, and colleagues in a manner that upholds the company’s high standards.
This role requires a CDL Class A license with a doubles endorsement and at least six months of tractor trailer driving experience. The working schedule is Monday through Friday, with dispatch times beginning at 5:00 PM. The job involves operating various equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates, handling freight typically ranging from 10 to 90 pounds, and maintaining clean and safe work environments in and around the vehicles and trailers.
By joining Core-Mark, you become part of a reputable organization that not only supports your professional growth but also prioritizes your safety and well-being, backed by union benefits and a strong infrastructure to facilitate your success.
