The Lead Server role at Covington Senior Living is an integral position within the food service department, directly responsible for enhancing the dining experience for residents and guests. This role requires a dedicated individual who can efficiently prepare and manage the dining room environment for meal times, ensuring every detail from silverware rolling to setting tables and folding napkins is executed with precision. The Lead Server’s duties include greeting residents, taking orders, answering questions about meals, serving food, and ensuring tables are cleared promptly, thus fostering a seamless dining experience.
Additionally, the Lead Server accommodates residents and community guests, manages billing for meals, and handles the retrieval and sanitation of dishes and utensils to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene. The role encompasses delivering room trays to residents and collecting dishware from apartments to ensure service continuity and resident convenience. The Lead Server also plays a key role in facilitating the provision of snacks and supporting special event planning, such as holiday buffets, which contribute to community engagement and resident satisfaction.
Underlying the daily responsibilities is a strong leadership component. The Lead Server reports to the Food Service Director and supports the execution of food preparation duties outlined by the Executive Director or Assistant Executive Director. In this leadership capacity, the Lead Server demonstrates professionalism, confidentiality, and positive interpersonal relations with employees, residents, families, visitors, and coworkers. The role is vital to quality assurance initiatives focused on resident and employee satisfaction, process improvements, and financial impacts that align with the community’s values.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in a food service or hospitality role preferred
- Ability to lead and manage a team effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Physical ability to perform duties such as lifting and standing for extended periods
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in food service or hospitality preferred

- Leadership experience or ability to lead and train a team

Job Duties
- Complete all tasks communicated to prepare kitchen and dining room for resident meal times such as rolling silverware, setting tables, folding napkins and other related tasks
- Greet residents in the dining room, take orders for meals and answer questions about meal selections
- Serve residents their daily choices and clear tables when finished
- Accommodate resident and community guests in the dining room ensuring meals are properly billed
- Retrieve dishes and utensils after meals and ensure they are washed and sanitized
- Deliver room trays and retrieve community dishware from resident apartments
- Provide residents with snacks as requested from the kitchen
- Assist in planning and executing special event and holiday buffets
- Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations with employees, residents, families, visitors, and coworkers professionally and confidentially
- Initiate and participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities focusing on resident satisfaction, employee satisfaction, process refinement, and financial impact
- Embrace and project community values such as compassion, positivity, respectful communication, responsibility, trust, safety, teamwork, partnership, service, integrity, efficiency, and financial responsibility
- Provide training and leadership to serving staff
- Oversee scheduling of wait staff
- Run the staff when the manager is not on duty
- Direct employees through daily routines
