Job Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six months of relevant work experience
  • Valid driver’s license compliant with city policy AP 2-2
  • Ability to handle long periods of walking and moderate lifting
  • Ability to work various shifts
  • Capacity to operate hand-held computer devices
  • Ability to interact effectively with the public
  • Willingness to undergo drug testing and physical examination
  • Preference given to eligible veterans
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to multitask in fast-paced public service settings
  • Comfortable with driving city-owned vehicles and riding bicycles in traffic

Job Duties

  • Enforce city parking ordinances by issuing citations for parking violations
  • Enforce policies and procedures related to parking
  • Issue citations for parking violations observed within assigned areas
  • Report vehicles in tow-away zones
  • Check parked vehicles using hand-held computer devices for unresolved parking violations
  • Boot eligible vehicles
  • Report damaged or malfunctioning meters
  • Report missing traffic and parking signs
  • Assist citizens with directions and other needed information
  • Monitor, investigate, and report on valet zones
  • Enforce ordinances preventing businesses from operating in the public right of way
  • Tow abandoned vehicles
  • Enforce community parking and residential parking area regulations
  • Enforce bicycle lane parking restrictions
  • Conduct occupancy studies to manage curbside rates, time limits, or other parking tools
  • Utilize vehicles with license plate recognition systems to enforce ordinances and collect occupancy data
  • Use the 311 system to review, respond, and close parking service requests
  • Perform other duties as required
