Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- One year experience in physician office or related hospital experience
- AHA or ARC BLS certification required
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards
- Knowledge of medical billing procedures
- Word processing and data entry skills

- Knowledge of pre-certification requirements and procedures of third-party medical insurance payers
Job Duties
- Assist patients at front and discharge windows including receiving visitors and patients
- Ascertain patient needs and direct accordingly
- Perform clerical duties including entering information into systems, collecting forms, completing medical chart entries
- Collect fees as appropriate and answer phones
- Handle pre-certifications for procedures
- Register new patients and verify and update demographic and insurance information
- Verify co-pays and coverage
- Monitor reception area and patient flow and notify patients of delays
- Reconcile daily patient receipts
- Provide clerical support and department duties as assigned
