Job Requirements

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
One or more years of related work experience in patient registration or financial services
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-volume setting
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong computer skills including proficiency with office software
Ability to interact face-to-face with patients and staff effectively
Flexibility to work variable shifts, hours, and on-call duties as required
Commitment to providing excellent customer service

Job Qualifications

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
Excellent customer service skills with one or more years of related work experience
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously amidst high phone volume, multiple computer systems, and frequent interruptions
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Ability to handle ongoing face-to-face interactions with patients and staff in a busy medical office environment
Strong knowledge of common office software, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
Preferred medical terminology experience
Preferred prior experience with hospital registration and authorizations
Preferred notary license and experience
Additional related education and/or experience is preferred

Job Duties

Performs pre-registration/registration processes, verifies insurance coverage and obtains authorizations and notifications
Calculates patient liability according to verification of insurance benefits, collects deposits and copayments
Accurately and completely documents all information into the patient records system to ensure maximum reimbursement
Obtains all necessary signatures and documentation required by the patient's insurance plan
Conducts patient visits for bedside registration to expedite the completion of the patient registration
Provides financial counseling to patients and their families
Explains FHP financial policies and provides information on alternative payment arrangements
Assists patients and families in completing financial assistance paperwork
Acts as a liaison between the patient, billing department, and payor to enhance account receivables performance and resolve issues
Communicates with physicians, clinical and hospital staff, nursing, and Health Information Management to resolve patient concerns
Meets or exceeds productivity standards, maintains accurate production logs and records
Identifies opportunities to improve work processes and supports good team dynamics
Performs various patient services such as transporting patients, providing training for new staff, collecting and releasing patient valuables, posting daily deposits, or conducting assignments of the Patient Financial Services team
Performs all functions in compliance with established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements
Consistently demonstrates core and leader behaviors to provide excellent customer service to all Foundation Health customers
