Job Description
SCA Health is a prominent healthcare organization committed to redefining specialty care through innovative and patient-centered solutions. As part of Optum, SCA Health operates a vast network that includes over 370 ambulatory surgical centers, more than 400 specialty physician practice clinics, and numerous labs and surgical hospitals. Their expansive reach enables them to support physicians, health systems, and employers in delivering high-quality, value-based care to patients while preserving autonomy and clinical excellence. The organization emphasizes teamwork, continuous improvement, integrity, accountability, inclusion, and service excellence, which are encapsulated in their seven core values.
At its core, SCA Health believes that healthcare is about people—the patients, physicians, and teammates that collaborate closely to drive the success of every procedure, facility, and innovation. With a professional team of more than 15,000 individuals, SCA Health fosters a culture centered on learning, growth, and shared mission and values. Employees are empowered to impact patient outcomes directly and contribute meaningfully to the healthcare community. The organization invests significantly in career development and personal success, nurturing an environment where expertise is valued and professional growth is encouraged.
The Registered Nurse (RN) PreOp position at SCA Health is a critical perioperative role focused on delivering top-notch clinical care and ensuring patient safety and comfort before surgical procedures. The RN PreOp is responsible for a comprehensive assessment of patients' preoperative health status, including cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, hemodynamic, pain management, and mental status evaluations. This role requires interpreting complex clinical data from monitors, understanding pathophysiology related to surgical and anesthesia techniques, and developing individualized perioperative care plans.
In this position, the RN advocates for patient safety by protecting patients from injury, ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment, managing pain and medication safely, and maintaining fluid and tissue perfusion. The nurse also provides patient and family education about surgical expectations, psychosocial responses, pain management, wound care, and recovery processes. The RN coordinates care through effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring smooth transitions and continuity throughout the perioperative process.
SCA Health values nurses who demonstrate strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and fiscal responsibility skills. The RN PreOp role involves active participation in quality improvement projects, team meetings, safety huddles, and performance appraisals. The organization promotes continuous professional development and encourages nurses to maintain competencies and pursue specialty certifications. SCA Health also supports nurses in acting as patient advocates, protecting patient privacy, and complying with regulatory standards and facility policies.
This role is vital in ensuring clinical quality and patient-centered care while embodying SCA Health's values such as integrity, teamwork, accountability, and inclusion. SCA Health offers competitive compensation ranging from $30.00 to $50.82 per hour, reflecting the expertise and commitment required by the RN PreOp position. The organization provides a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision coverage, 401k with company match, paid time off, life and disability insurance, and more, underscoring their dedication to supporting employee health, wellbeing, and financial security.
Joining SCA Health means joining a mission-driven team devoted to improving healthcare delivery and patient outcomes. This role offers an excellent opportunity for registered nurses who are passionate about perioperative nursing, patient advocacy, and professional growth. At SCA Health, your contributions inspire change and directly impact the lives of patients and communities served.
