Job Description
CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Kleberg is a distinguished medical institution located in Kingsville, Texas, a town celebrated for its rich ranching heritage and vibrant Texas culture. This hospital, licensed for 100 beds, serves as a crucial Level IV Trauma Center and offers a comprehensive range of medical services. It operates as a general acute care facility providing extensive Medical and Surgical Services, encompassing Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Skilled Nursing, Emergency services, Intensive Care, Cardiac care, and a broad spectrum of Diagnostic Services. The hospital caters to the health needs of residents across Kleberg, Brooks, Kennedy, and southern Nueces counties, establishing itself as a cornerstone of community health and wellness in the region.
The facility includes CHRISTUS Spohn Kleberg Plaza, which is dedicated to birthing services and is outfitted with modern, state-of-the-art labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum (LDRP) rooms. It also hosts a nursery, the Cissy Horlock Taub Women’s Center—a diagnostic, education, and resource center—and multiple physician office suites. Additionally, outpatient rehabilitation services such as occupational therapy, speech therapy, wound care, physical therapy, and aquatic therapy are available at two convenient locations within Kingsville, providing comprehensive care and support for patients recovering from injury or illness.
At CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Kleberg, the mission is deeply rooted in faith-based healing and a commitment to delivering the highest standard of health care. The hospital embraces the diverse backgrounds, skills, and personalities of its staff, fostering a supportive work environment that values both quality of work and quality of life. This full-time nursing role offers a balanced schedule of five days a week with eight-hour shifts, providing an opportunity to work within a collaborative, patient-centered atmosphere.
The Nurse role at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Kleberg requires practicing independently with a thorough awareness of relevant clinical situations. Nurses in this position provide both routine and complex care, with the capability to engage in long-range planning and goal setting in nursing practice. They develop skills to manage contingencies in clinical nursing effectively and play a critical role in assigning and delegating tasks to other care team members to ensure optimal patient care management.
This role’s responsibilities include adherence to the OneCHRISTUS Competencies, encompassing leadership at various levels—Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. The nurse utilizes the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation—to deliver quality nursing care to assigned patients. The role demands sensitivity to the increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families, ensuring care is comprehensive and compassionate.
In administration, the nurse follows appropriate protocols for medication and treatment administration, monitors for side-effects and treatment effectiveness, and maintains detailed documentation of patient histories, symptoms, medications, and care provided. Another vital aspect of the position involves assessing learning needs and delivering education to patients, their families, and caregivers, helping them understand health issues and available resources.
This position prefers candidates with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and at least one year of experience in a related nursing specialty. Required certifications include BLS and an active RN license in the state of employment or under a compact agreement. The role promises a dynamic and fulfilling career opportunity for nurses dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the lives of patients while advancing their professional nursing practice in a supportive faith-based hospital environment.
