Job Description
Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS) is a leading nonprofit, faith-based organization headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota, dedicated to providing high-quality housing and comprehensive care for older adults. Established in 1955, PHS has grown into one of the largest nonprofit providers in the senior living industry, serving over 41,800 older adults through 60 affiliated communities across Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. With a workforce of approximately 8,000 employees, PHS is renowned for its innovative approach to senior care, promoting independence, purposeful living, and overall well-being. PHS also co-owns Genevive, the largest geriatric primary care practice in Minnesota, which provides holistic medical care to more than 15,500 seniors.
Walnut Ridge, one of the vibrant senior living communities under PHS, is located in Clive, Iowa, within the Greater Des Moines area. Nestled just inside the I-35 loop, Walnut Ridge offers residents and employees a supportive environment enriched with convenient access to highways, healthcare facilities, retail shops, restaurants, and outdoor recreational trails. The community features 60 state-of-the-art units in its Long Term Care Center and provides a variety of care options including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Long Term Care. Walnut Ridge offers numerous amenities for staff, such as free meals, access to a fitness center (welcoming family members as well), a warm water swimming pool, scenic walking paths, and proximity to public transportation.
The position available is for a Registered Nurse (RN) on an On-Call/PRN basis, meaning shifts are scheduled according to your availability with no guaranteed set schedule. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about gerontological nursing and committed to delivering compassionate care to the elderly. As a Registered Nurse at Walnut Ridge, you will be part of a close-knit, community-based healthcare team focused on enriching the lives of residents by providing high-quality clinical care compliant with regulatory standards and best clinical practices.
Joining PHS and Walnut Ridge means embracing a mission-driven workplace guided by Christian Ministry values that emphasize respect, empowerment, and compassion for our aging population. PHS prioritizes the needs of its employees by fostering an environment that empowers, engages, and equips team members for success. The faith-based nonprofit grounds its identity in the Biblical principle of "Love One Another" (John 13:34) and seeks employees who align with this value-driven culture alongside possessing the necessary skills.
Working at Walnut Ridge offers opportunities for professional growth, movement within the organization, and connection with a dedicated team that shares a common purpose. Beyond the rewarding work experience, employees enjoy generous benefits including health and dental insurance, employer contributions to health savings accounts, life insurance coverage, retirement plans with employer matching, holiday pay, extended sick leave, vision insurance, voluntary disability coverage, accident and hospitalization plans, educational assistance, paid time off, same-day pay, employee assistance programs, and college partnership discounts.
If you have a current nursing license, CPR certification, and a heart for senior care, this dynamic opportunity at Walnut Ridge is a chance to apply your nursing skills while making a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults in a welcoming, faith-based community.
