The role of Regional Sales Manager at Rich's is designed for a seasoned sales professional who will be responsible for achieving annual sales goals and driving the business forward within the Southern California region and other designated areas as needed. This position plays a crucial role in aligning with the overall In-Store Bakery and Deli (ISBD) sales strategy, ensuring that Rich's continues to deliver exceptional market performance. Successful candidates will utilize a data-driven approach to selling, leveraging industry insights and customer data from analytic tools such as Circana, IRI, and Nielsen to inform strategy and decision-making. The Regional Sales Manager will focus on cultivating valuable relationships with key customers, covering senior management, merchandising, operations, procurement, and logistics, and will drive profitable business planning and execution. This role demands expertise in channel-specific plans, developmental marketing programs, and collaborative communication with broker partners and internal corporate teams to maximize growth opportunities. Extensive travel within the Southern California territory, including overnight stays, is expected to support customer engagement and business objectives.

Job Requirements

  • bachelors degree in business or related field strongly desired
  • minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, business development or related field in the food industry with a minimum of 3 years experience in retail channel
  • knowledge and ability to analyze industry trends and research customer data using tools such as circana/ iri, nielsen, etc
  • excellent negotiation and presentation skills
  • solid verbal and written communication skills
  • self-starter and ability to work independently as well as on a team
  • solid understanding of p&ls and managing a budget
  • pc proficiency to include microsoft office outlook, word, excel, powerpoint and crm
  • salesforce preferred
  • ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • ability to stand for 6 or more hours during the workday
  • ability to travel up to 75% within southern ca and other areas as needed
  • overnights as needed

Job Duties

  • achieve individual and market case/financial margin targets by executing division strategies and delivering a rich experience through well-refined local market plans
  • develop and implement a data driven selling approach via a deep understanding of industry insights and customer data using tools such as circana/ iri, nielsen, etc
  • execute channel and account specific plans
  • proactively create new selling opportunities specifically focused on accounts
  • develop effective retail pull-thru marketing programs to support the needs of key retailers
  • communicate/coordinate with broker partners to provide service to all assigned accounts in support of business building opportunities
  • establish key relationships with assigned customers, focusing on senior management, merchandising, operations, procurement, and logistics
