Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent
  • Two to five years related experience and/or training
  • Commercial and instrument ratings
  • FAA medical certificate (First or Second Class)
  • Ability to maintain weight below 250 pounds
  • Age under 70 years
  • 2000 total flight hours
  • 1500 flight hours in category
  • 1000 hours PIC in category
  • 500 hours rotor wing turbine time
  • 200 hours cross-country flight time
  • 50 hours actual or hood instrument time
  • Positive interpersonal skills
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Ability to work irregular schedules including seven shifts in two-week pay period

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and two to five years related experience and/or training
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Commercial and instrument flight ratings for category and class of aircraft
  • ATP rating in category considered meeting requirements
  • Possession of First or Second Class FAA medical certificate
  • Minimum 2000 total flight hours with at least 1500 flight hours in category
  • 1000 hours pilot-in-command in category
  • 500 hours of rotor wing turbine time
  • 200 hours cross-country flight time including at least 50 hours at night
  • 100 hours unaided night as PIC or equivalent NVG time
  • 50 hours actual or hood instrument flight time in category (simulator time excluded)
  • Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues and EMS representatives
  • Previous flight experience in category for commercial operator or military within past 24 months

Job Duties

  • Operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
  • Completes pre-flight inspections verifying aircraft airworthiness
  • Holds final authority for aircraft operations and safety of passengers, cargo and equipment
  • Maintains knowledge of all aircraft and medical systems including backup aircraft
  • Ensures medical flight team is familiar and comfortable with medical interior and systems
  • Completes all required documentation accurately
  • Conducts detailed flight planning with little notice
  • Participates in company meetings, projects, and community outreach
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
