Job Description
Performance Foodservice, the broadline distribution division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading foodservice distributor that maintains strong, unique relationships with a diverse range of local customers. These customers include independent restaurants and hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company is known for its team of dedicated sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and various subject matter experts who work closely with customers to offer strategic advice and tailored support. This support includes guidance on operational improvements, menu development, product selection, and other operational strategies that help these establishments flourish. Beyond simply delivering quality food products, Performance Foodservice takes great pride in going the extra mile to help independent restaurant owners and other clients achieve their long-term aspirations.
The role of a CDL-A Truck Driver at Performance Foodservice is critical in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the company’s food supply chain. This position requires individuals to drive tractor-trailers or straight trucks, delivering fresh food and related products across intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes. Drivers often handle regional routes that involve 3-5 day layovers and extensive travel, working 4 to 5 days per week with start times ranging between 11 PM and 3 AM. The compensation is competitive, with an average salary range between $90,000 and $100,000, plus a $10,000 sign-on bonus (subject to eligibility criteria).
This role is not only about making timely deliveries; CDL-A Drivers become the face of the Performance Foodservice brand to customers. They foster and build lasting relationships through professional communication and reliable service. Safety is of paramount importance—the driver performs all necessary safety inspections before and after trips, complies with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and maintains high safety standards throughout each delivery. Responsibilities also include checking freight for accuracy, handling paperwork with precision, loading and unloading goods, and securing the trailer and cargo properly. Drivers are also responsible for maintaining daily logs, managing returns and damaged products, and upholding cleanliness and organization within their vehicles and loading areas.
Performance Foodservice strives to create a safe, inclusive, and respectful work environment fostering a culture that values rewards, recognition, and career growth opportunities. Benefits begin from day one and include health and wellness coverage, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. This role is ideal for candidates who are dedicated to supporting America’s food distribution infrastructure while enjoying competitive pay and comprehensive benefits in a reputable and growth-oriented company.
