Job Requirements

  • Proven event planning experience with fundraising focus
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong project management capability
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Access to a car and willingness to travel up to 100-200 miles
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Proven experience in event planning with focus on fundraising events over $100K
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management skills for events from 10 to 700 people
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Donor and customer service orientation
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and support development staff
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary
  • Ability to travel up to 100-200 miles including potential overnight stays in Iowa

Job Duties

  • Lead development colleagues and board volunteers to design and execute fundraising and stewardship events
  • Develop and manage event budgets
  • Assist in identifying and securing corporate sponsors, partners, and donors
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and supporters
  • Coordinate all logistical aspects of events including venue, catering, entertainment, and transportation
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for event support
  • Develop and implement innovative fundraising strategies
  • Support post-event activities including evaluations, thank you letters, and financial reconciliation
  • Participate as a member of the development team and attend meetings including occasional evenings and weekends
