As a CDL-A Driver, you will be responsible for driving tractor-trailer or straight trucks over intrastate and interstate routes including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight delivery scenarios. The driver plays a vital role in the food supply chain by ensuring timely and safe delivery of food and related products to Performance Foodservice’s valued customers. Primary duties include performing required safety inspections and adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, maintaining the cleanliness and safety standards of vehicles, and managing accurate and legible paperwork associated with freight delivery. Drivers must possess a valid CDL-A license, meet all state licensing or certification requirements, uphold a clean driving record, and pass required drug and criminal background checks. Physical demand includes the ability to hand-lift and operate equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates, handling freight that typically ranges from 10 to 90 pounds.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- valid CDL-A license
- minimum 1 year commercial driving experience
- must be at least 21 years old
- clean driving record for last 3 years
- pass background checks and drug screening
- able to obtain or possess valid DOT Health Card
- physical ability to lift and handle freight weighing between 10 and 90 pounds
- meet all relevant state licensing requirements
- able to work overnight shifts
- reliable transportation to and from work
- strong interpersonal skills
- ability to follow DOT regulations and company policies
- good physical stamina
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- 1 year commercial driving experience
- valid CDL-A license
- must be 21+ years of age
- meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
- pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- pass road test
- attain or have valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
- good communication skills
- detail oriented
- able to work independently and as part of a team
Job Duties
- Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner
- functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company
- performs all required safety checks including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
- reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
- follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- immediately reports all safety hazards
- inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- performs count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded
- checks and completes accurate and legible paperwork associated with freight
- moves tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
- drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- unloads products from the trailer, transports items into designated customer storage areas
- performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
- verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
- collects money where required
- loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
- ensures tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured
- unloads damaged goods and customer returns and brings to driver check-in and completes necessary paperwork
- completes daily record of hours of service and enters in logs in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keeps trailers clear and clean as required
- secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork at the end of shift
- performs other related duties as assigned
