In this role, you will be responsible for preparing a wide array of dishes that meet established recipes and production guidelines, ensuring consistency and high standards. You will skillfully use various cooking methods such as baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming, to prepare meats, vegetables, and other foods. Your work will also involve measuring, weighing, cutting, peeling, and blending ingredients with precision and care, utilizing a range of kitchen appliances and utensils safely and effectively.

Beyond food preparation, you will be expected to provide excellent customer service by maintaining a positive, welcoming attitude when interacting with guests, customers, clients, and coworkers. This role demands strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of food quality, safety, and sanitation. The position may also involve lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, walking, and standing for extended periods, highlighting the physical aspects of the chef's role.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous culinary experience in a commercial kitchen
  • Food safety training or willingness to obtain certification
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and production guidelines
  • Proficiency in using kitchen tools and appliances safely
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Physical capability to perform job duties including lifting and standing

Job Qualifications

  • Experience as a cook or in a related role required
  • Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
  • Must be able to acquire food safety certification
  • Demonstrate basic math and counting skills
  • Demonstrates interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal

Job Duties

  • The duties and responsibilities associated with the position may be adapted to meet the varying client requirements and operational needs at different Aramark locations
  • Food preparation involves following production instructions and standardized recipes to cook a diverse array of dishes
  • Readies the workstation with all required tools and ingredients
  • Carries out the preparation of ingredients by measuring, weighing, blending, cutting, trimming, and peeling food items
  • Safely using various utensils, including knives, is a vital skill
  • Handles appliances like ovens, cookers, cutting machinery, mixers, and more
  • Uses different cooking methods, such as baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming, to prepare meats, vegetables, and other foods
  • Structures, enhances, and portions cuisine based on established regulations
  • Maintains the quality and safety of food through proper storage methods as outlined in food safety policies
  • Maintains a sanitary and germ-free environment in work areas, devices, and utensils
  • Ensures the delivery of top-notch customer service and maintains a cheerful and approachable demeanor when dealing with guests, customers, clients, and coworkers
  • Maintains compliance with Aramark safety protocols, placing a strong emphasis on accurate food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Maintains the safety measures for organizational resources
