Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 1 year recent surgical scheduling experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize deadline-driven workloads
- Strong time management and organizational skills

- Bachelors Degree in related field preferred
- Minimum of 1 year recent surgical scheduling experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

- Knowledge of medical coding preferred
Job Duties
- Schedule surgery with patients
- Post surgery at designated hospitals
- Schedule preoperative and post-operative office appointments for surgical patients as indicated
- Compile patient's surgery charts and appropriate paperwork
- Complete preliminary paperwork needed for each surgical patient and place in chart for physician review
- Obtain pre-certification and insurance checks when necessary
- Copy and send surgical paperwork to appropriate hospital after pre-operative examination
- Schedule and coordinate pre-operative surgical tests or clearances for patients
- Coordinate with instrumentation companies for special equipment needed
- Prepare and distribute weekly surgical posting sheet for billing
- Promote teamwork and seek assistance as needed
- Identify and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff
- Collaborate with physicians and office staff for patient needs
- Maintain knowledge of facility and regulatory compliance requirements
- Perform receptionist duties including answering phone and scheduling
- Utilize computerized software systems for scheduling and order entry
- Coordinate cases with multiple offices for pre-op tests
- Provide preparation instructions for tests and surgeries
- Notify Patient Navigation for cancer cases
- Set up physical therapy when necessary
- Manage surgical line-ups with facilities
- Navigate systems to access patient information and facilitate transfers
- Communicate and order supplies as needed
- Ensure timely delivery of services to staff, patients, and visitors
- Volunteer for and recommend changes to improve departmental productivity
- Obtain authorizations to ensure optimal reimbursement
- Provide clinicals to insurance carriers
