As a part of the Colorado Front Range, Boulder offers residents and visitors an exceptional quality of life with access to numerous outdoor recreational activities, cultural events, and vibrant community programs. The City of Boulder is dedicated to fostering an inclusive work environment and providing equitable access to health, prosperity, and fulfillment for all community members regardless of race, ethnicity, age, gender, ability, religion, sexuality, or socioeconomic status. This part-time role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about sports, youth engagement, and community wellness to contribute meaningfully as part of a dynamic municipal team.

This position is designated as part-time with an average of 19 scheduled weekly hours, fluctuating between 15 and 25 hours depending on seasonal demands. Compensation is within the full pay range of $21.01 to $29.40 per hour, with hiring rates generally starting from the minimum up to 80 percent of this range. The role works under limited supervision but requires strong independent initiative and collaboration skills. This position works closely with parks operations and recreation staff to ensure excellent customer service to the public and community partners. It involves a variety of tasks ranging from scheduling programs and organizing marketing plans to monitoring events and serving as an on-site liaison. Candidates will have opportunities to support recreation programming software, facilitate event permits, and assist with the maintenance and operations of community performance venues such as the Boulder Bandshell.

In addition to supporting program delivery, this position acts as a lead worker for part-time and seasonal employees, fosters teamwork, and promotes a culture of integrity, respect, and fairness. The job requires effective communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to remain composed in emergency situations. Essential duties also include safety enforcement, performing administrative tasks, updating public information sources, and assisting with community event setup and teardown. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all programs and events operate smoothly and meet the City's high standards for service delivery and public engagement.

By joining the City of Boulder in this capacity, employees become part of a forward-thinking municipal organization that values diversity, employee development, and community impact. The ability to work tactfully with the public and collaboratively with internal teams is essential. This position is suitable for those with prior experience in recreation programming, event coordination, or community engagement, and offers a meaningful pathway to contribute to the health and vitality of the Boulder community through dynamic sports and recreation programs.
