Job Requirements
- Physically able to use and demonstrate a variety of recreational equipment
- able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently
- able to compare and judge characteristics of data, people, and things
- capable of speaking and signaling to convey information
- able to read and complete program and administrative forms using prescribed formats
- ability to communicate clearly and confidently
- able to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions
- capable of recording and delivering information effectively
- able to perform basic mathematical operations
- able to inspect items for proper dimensions
- capable of coordinating hands and eyes while using equipment
- able to handle various items such as recreational and carpentry equipment

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- experience in recreational program planning and event coordination
- knowledge of safety precautions related to recreational and cultural activities
- ability to plan and implement activities for diverse populations
- skilled in the use of recreational and performing arts equipment
- effective communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to produce detailed reports and data analysis
- experience with grant writing and administration
- ability to maintain effective working relationships
- strong organizational and time-management skills
- proficiency in enforcing rules and policies
Job Duties
- Plan, develop, implement and supervise city and departmental programs or projects for target populations
- coordinate and assist with general planning and implementation of city and recreational department events and facilities
- enforce city rules and regulations pertaining to event and facility use
- complete required reports, contract administration, and purchasing
- prioritize and assign work and related activities
- coordinate special city-wide events and serve on planning committees
- promote programs through flyers, brochures, news releases, and community outreach
- assist with recruitment and training of summer staff
- perform studies, surveys, research, and data analysis to evaluate program effectiveness
- manage grant administration and writing
- establish and ensure adherence to personnel policies and procedures
- assist with departmental human resources functions including staff development and performance evaluations
- investigate, respond to, and resolve citizen and city department complaints
- maintain inventory and submit requisitions for equipment and supplies
- perform other duties as assigned
