Among these is its Recreation Division, which focuses on delivering high-quality recreational activities, facilities management, and community events to promote an active and engaged population. The city values innovation, community engagement, and professional development, making it an excellent place for individuals eager to grow within municipal recreation and public service sectors.
The City of Leawood is currently seeking a Seasonal Recreation Intern. The internship offers exposure to program registration, roster management, equipment handling, and scheduling tasks that are essential to the smooth running of community recreational services. This position also provides the chance to assist in analyzing program attendance, evaluating facility usage trends, and gathering participant feedback through surveys, contributing valuable insights for improving services. Facility experience includes involvement with a community room, aquatic center, nature center, and a challenge course, allowing the intern to understand the operational dynamics of diverse recreational environments.
Additionally, the Recreation Intern will serve as a frontline representative for patrons, addressing inquiries about classes, leagues, and programs, as well as assisting with registrations and facility rentals. Event management is another critical component, with the intern assisting in both the setup and breakdown of department-wide events, which are pivotal in fostering community spirit and engagement.

It is an ideal stepping stone for future professionals seeking to build a career in municipal recreation or related sectors. The position requires candidates to be proactive, detail-oriented, and customer-focused, and it demands a commitment to learning and contributing to community betterment through quality recreational programming.
