The Recreation Attendant role at Marriott Hotels is an essential position serving as a key resource for all recreational activities facilitated on the property. The role involves providing guests with information about available recreational facilities including pools, beaches, entertainment zones/game-rooms, fitness centers, and child activity centers. The Recreation Attendant is responsible for encouraging, recruiting, registering, and scheduling guests to participate in these activities, ensuring a fun and relaxing atmosphere while promoting rules and safety regulations to protect the welfare of all guests and members. This position requires vigilance in observing activity in recreation areas and responding appropriately to emergencies, following established local operating procedures.

In this role, the Recreation Attendant also handles cashier services in facilities with point-of-sale transactions and assists in hosting private functions and group activities. They must be attentive to guests’ ability to safely participate and notify supervisors of any concerns. Additionally, the attendant provides assistance to injured guests until emergency medical services arrive, emphasizing the role’s critical nature in guest safety. The upkeep of recreational facilities, equipment, and supplies through cleaning and maintenance is also a vital responsibility. The position demands strict adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety training while maintaining professional appearance and confidentiality.

Strong communication skills are essential, as Recreation Attendants welcome and acknowledge all guests, anticipate service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and maintain positive relationships with team members to support common goals. The role requires performing physical activities including standing, walking, lifting objects up to 25 pounds independently or more with assistance, and navigating various physical environments safely. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • CPR certification
  • First Aid certification
  • Knowledge and ability to use recreation equipment
  • Certification or training as required by local and state agencies
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull objects up to 25 pounds independently and heavier objects with assistance
  • Ability to perform fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to move through confined or elevated spaces
  • Ability to navigate sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces
  • Ability to comply with company policies and procedures
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality

Job Qualifications
