These elements collectively maintain San Marino's esteemed residential character and foster a vibrant, engaged community. The City of San Marino is dedicated to enhancing quality of life for its residents by supporting creative and diverse programs that encourage learning, recreation, and community involvement. This department’s efforts reflect the city’s commitment to nurturing an inclusive and active community environment.

Currently, the City of San Marino is looking to hire two part-time Recreation Coordinators to join the Recreation Division under the Community Services Department. This role is integral to the seamless operation of the city’s recreational programs and facilities. Under the guidance of the Recreation Manager, Recreation Coordinators will assist in managing facility rentals and maintenance needs while coordinating with various internal divisions, outside agencies, and the public. The position requires availability for up to 18 hours per week, including working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary. The role offers competitive wages with a scheduled 4% cost of living adjustment (COLA) effective July 1, 2026.

Recreation Coordinators must be prepared to actively contribute to the organization, planning, and evaluation of recreational programs and services, ensuring these offerings are engaging, well-maintained, and responsive to community needs. They will support special events and activities across the Recreation Department and other city departments, prepare detailed reports assessing program effectiveness, and assist in recruiting, training, and supervising part-time and seasonal employees as well as volunteers. Being part of this vital team requires excellent communication skills and a strong customer service orientation to respond efficiently to inquiries, complaints, and service requests from the public and community groups. Additionally, they will participate in financial management by helping develop and monitor the annual budget for recreation activities.

The part-time Recreation Coordinator role is ideal for individuals passionate about community building and recreation management who thrive in a collaborative environment. The City of San Marino values innovation and staying informed on emerging trends in recreation to continually enhance programs and offerings.
