Job Requirements

  • Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) credential or commitment to obtain within 18 months
  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite
  • valid Illinois driver’s license with daily access to a vehicle
  • $100,000/$300,000 auto liability insurance
  • willingness to work in diverse environments
  • firsthand experience living with a mental health condition

Job Qualifications

  • Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) credential or willing to obtain within 18 months
  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite
  • demonstrated commitment to serving underrepresented and vulnerable populations
  • firsthand experience living with a mental health condition
  • demonstrated sensitivity and compassion
  • interpersonal and public relations skills
  • understanding of local mental health resources
  • ability to travel across greater Chicago
  • basic computer skills

Job Duties

  • Establishes physical presence inside SMHRF/SNF to support class members
  • provides one-on-one engagement and recovery support pre and post transition
  • conducts community meetings/forums and informational Q&A sessions
  • provides skill building assistance and program education
  • advocates and follows up with service providers on behalf of class members
  • links class members to community resources in collaboration with Prime Agencies
  • shares recovery story to assist class members
  • implements NAMI Chicago support programming within SMHRF/SNF
  • maintains official records and reports to program staff
  • provides temporary social and emotional support, WRAP, coping skills training, and encouragement
  • facilitates peer support groups
  • leads peer-led trainings
  • performs other duties as assigned
