The Receptionist/Switchboard Operator at Hampton Roads Transit plays a crucial role as the first point of contact for customers and visitors. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • minimum of one to two years customer service experience
  • experience operating multi-line telephone systems
  • ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office and telephone systems
  • must possess a valid driver's license and acquire a Virginia driver's license within 60 days if applicable
  • knowledge of all transit services, routes, transfer points, fares, and company policies
  • ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
  • flexibility to work varied hours and report during severe weather
  • ability to manage multiple priorities with little or no supervision

Job Duties
