Job Requirements

  • High school graduate
  • one year experience in a physician's office or hospital/medical environment
  • basic computer and typing skills
  • excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • reads, writes, speaks and comprehends the English language
  • willing and able to become proficient navigating the hospital’s Electronic Medical Record

  • basic knowledge of medical and insurance terminology preferred

Job Duties

  • Greet patients and visitors
  • inform staff when patient arrives for scheduled appointment
  • answer questions and provide information and directions to patients, visitors, and colleagues
  • answer phone and manage caller needs, take and relay messages
  • check and manage voicemails
  • direct calls to appropriate resources
  • inform staff of patient’s disposition or cancellation status
  • seek out information as requested by staff to facilitate patient management
  • order office supplies
  • assemble new patient charts
  • ensure front desk has necessary supplies
  • attend staff meetings
  • facilitate completion of sign-in sheet
  • file staff meeting documents
  • collect co-payments
  • print daily outpatient schedule
  • disposition outpatients in the Electronic Medical Record
  • document patient intake and referral details on appropriate form
  • schedule and reschedule outpatients as appropriate
