Job Description
The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) is the largest hunger-relief organization in Central Texas and an esteemed member of the Feeding America network. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, CTFB operates with a profound mission to increase food access across a 21-county region. Their work involves distributing nutritious food, advocating against hunger and poverty, and transforming lives through educational programs and innovative solutions. The organization's impact is extensive, supporting over 612,000 food-insecure individuals annually through a mixture of direct service programs and collaboration with about 250 nonprofit community partners. CTFB's culture is rooted in core values including Service, Integrity, Dignity, Collaboration, and Innovation, reflecting their commitment to the community they serve. They are dedicated to fostering a workplace environment that champions these principles and fosters collaboration and inclusivity.
The Central Texas Food Bank is currently seeking a service-oriented Receptionist to join their Talent team. This role is a vital frontline position responsible for ensuring that every visitor, volunteer, partner agency employee, donor, or community stakeholder experiences exceptional customer service and a welcoming atmosphere when they enter the Food Bank. Reporting directly to the Chief Talent Officer, this receptionist role demands high visibility both within and outside the organization, acting as the public face of the Food Bank’s neighbor, volunteer, and visitor experience. The position is full-time and requires in-office presence for 40 hours a week.
As the initial point of contact for incoming calls and visitors, the Receptionist will manage a wide variety of communications, including answering calls, directing visitors, and facilitating smooth interactions among various partners and stakeholders. They will also handle administrative duties such as managing mail, scheduling, and supporting volunteer check-ins. Given the Food Bank’s commitment to serving a diverse community, the ability to communicate fluently in both English and Spanish is essential. The successful candidate will need excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality, and the capacity to independently juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
By joining CTFB, the Receptionist will contribute significantly to the organization’s overarching vision of ensuring equitable access to nutritious food for all Central Texans. This role offers an opportunity to work in a supportive, mission-driven environment where one’s efforts have a direct impact on improving community wellness and food security. The organization values extreme dependability, enthusiasm for customer service, and a strong commitment to service above all else, making this position ideal for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals facing food insecurity and poverty.
