Job Description

Select Medical Rehabilitation Hospital, a joint venture partnership between Select Medical and Lutheran Hospital, is a leading inpatient rehabilitation facility located in Fort Wayne, IN. We are currently seeking a Receptionist to join our hospital team on a Per Diem basis. This role is vital in ensuring smooth and secure operations at the hospital’s front desk. The Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for visitors, patients, and staff, providing courteous and efficient service while maintaining building security. The position offers a competitive hourly wage of $18.00 and includes opportunities for career advancement through demonstrated skills and dedication. In addition, part-time and Per Diem employees are eligible for benefits including 401k plans upon reaching certain working hour thresholds, an employee assistance program, and extensive orientation to facilitate an easy and informed onboarding process.

The Receptionist’s responsibilities extend beyond greeting and directing visitors; this role is essential in maintaining communication flow across departments by managing phone and overhead paging systems, assisting the admissions coordinator when needed, and logging job applications. The ideal candidate will be well-organized, attentive to detail, and possess strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, visitors, and colleagues. As this is a healthcare setting, the Receptionist also plays a key role in monitoring visitor conduct to ensure safety and security within the hospital environment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Ability to complete post offer employment testing before first day
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Detail-oriented with organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and security protocols
  • Previous receptionist experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Screen visitors to ensure security of the building
  • Inform visitors to sign in and wear visitor passes
  • Provide daily coverage for admissions coordinator during breaks
  • Connect and transfer calls to appropriate parties
  • Perform overhead paging
  • Notify admissions coordinator about tour requests
  • Obtain wheelchairs for patients
  • Report unusual behavior in lobby or parking area
  • Notify nursing when patient gifts arrive
  • Postmark outgoing mail and distribute incoming mail
  • Log all incoming job applications
