Job Description

MD Anderson Cancer Center is a world-renowned healthcare institution committed to fighting cancer through groundbreaking research, education, and patient care. Recognized as one of the nation’s leading cancer centers, MD Anderson focuses on a comprehensive approach to cancer treatment that blends clinical excellence with compassionate patient service. As part of this esteemed organization, the Donor Operations team plays a critical role in supporting lifesaving blood donation programs, which are essential for patient therapies and ongoing medical procedures.

The Donor Operations Receptionist is a pivotal position within the donor center, serving as the welcoming face for blood donors, family members, visitors, and community members who contribute to the center’s vital mission. This full-time, onsite role operates from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, providing a stable and professional work environment. With a competitive salary range from $37,450 to $48,000 annually, the position offers candidates not just an opportunity for employment but a chance to collaborate with a dedicated team that directly impacts patient care through blood donation services.

As the first point of contact, the Receptionist is responsible for creating positive experiences for all individuals entering the donor center by delivering exceptional customer service with professionalism and a warm demeanor. Key duties include greeting donors and their families, conducting thorough donor registration, managing donor flow efficiently, and scheduling future donation appointments to ensure smooth and continuous operation of donation activities. The Receptionist also supports donor follow-up and maintains accurate donor records, contributing to seamless communication and a personalized donor experience.

The ideal candidate possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills, is comfortable interacting with diverse populations, and can professionally address and resolve donor queries or concerns. Maintaining composure and courtesy in a fast-paced healthcare environment is essential, as is the ability to multitask efficiently while managing front desk operations such as answering phone calls, handling mail and package distribution, and directing visitors. Attention to detail and organizational skills are fundamental to performing routine receptionist duties and supporting the overall operations of the donor center.

Working at MD Anderson Cancer Center means joining a mission-driven organization with a profound commitment to healthcare excellence and community service. Employees enjoy comprehensive benefits, including medical and dental insurance, paid time off, retirement plans, tuition benefits, and professional development opportunities. The center fosters a collaborative work culture where each team member’s contribution is valued and recognized, making this an ideal environment for professionals looking to grow their careers while making a meaningful impact on patient outcomes and community health.

Moreover, the position entails maintaining security and integrity protocols related to critical infrastructure, requiring employees to undergo routine screening and meet specific requirements to ensure safety and compliance. MD Anderson is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace free from discrimination based on race, gender, age, disability, or other protected statuses.
