The Medical Receptionist acts as the initial point of contact for patients entering the practice, ensuring a smooth and positive experience from the moment they arrive. The receptionist also undertakes a variety of secretarial and administrative tasks that support the daily operations of the practice.
Key responsibilities for the Medical Receptionist include managing patient check-in and check-out processes, completing and verifying paperwork accurately, updating and maintaining patient records, collecting co-pays, and handling financial transactions such as balancing accounts and collecting outstanding balances. Additionally, the receptionist is responsible for maintaining an organized and welcoming waiting area, answering phone calls, scheduling patient appointments, and following up on referrals. Job Requirements
- minimum of high school diploma or possession of GED required
- minimum of one year experience in a medical health setting preferred
- ability to perform clerical and administrative tasks
- good communication skills
- knowledge of patient scheduling and billing procedures
- ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively
- maintain professionalism in a healthcare environment
