Job Description

Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Arlington, Texas, is a thriving faith community committed to serving its parishioners and fostering spiritual growth through meaningful worship, fellowship, and outreach. As a vital part of the Diocese of Fort Worth, this church upholds traditions while embracing active participation from its members to enrich their faith journey. The church provides a welcoming environment for all age groups and backgrounds, emphasizing discipleship, community service, and spiritual development.

We are currently seeking a dedicated and professional Receptionist to join our team. This is a part-time, exempt position requiring 24 hours per week, primarily onsite. The Receptionist will report to the Pastor and/or Business Manager and play an essential role in supporting the mission of the church. This role demands a self-starter with excellent organizational abilities and interpersonal skills, comfortable multitasking in a busy office environment, and possessing a vibrant active faith life.

The Receptionist will serve as the warm and friendly face of the parish, ensuring that every visitor, caller, or parishioner feels welcomed and valued. Responsibilities include maintaining the front desk, managing the parish calendar, coordinating liturgical events, and aiding hospitality efforts for clergy and guests. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required, alongside the ability to use basic internet tools confidently.

In this role, the Receptionist will keep the Pastor informed of parish activities, concerns, and communications, handle confidential information sensitively, and support various ministries by facilitating effective communication and cooperation. Scheduling Mass intentions and Baptisms, managing Mass attendance and stipends, as well as assisting with bulletin updates and office supply ordering, are key operational tasks.

The ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion is crucial as this role represents the parish to staff, visitors, and parishioners. The Receptionist will also play a role in charitable outreach by providing referrals for parish or community assistance and supporting parish events, retreats, and celebrations.

Working conditions are typical of an office environment, with physical requirements including sitting for extended periods, lifting up to 20 pounds, and performing repetitive motions such as typing. Occasional light travel within the Diocese may be necessary.

The ideal candidate will have at least a high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for candidates possessing three years of office experience. Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required. A strong understanding of office practices, confidentiality, customer service, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment is essential. The schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9 AM to 5 PM, with some flexibility as needed.

This position offers an opportunity to actively participate in a spiritually fulfilling role that supports the church’s mission while developing valuable administrative skills in a faith-based environment. If you are an organized, personable individual eager to contribute to a vibrant religious community, we encourage you to apply for this meaningful role.
