Job Description
This hiring facility is a healthcare establishment specializing in providing nursing and long-term care services to elderly and disabled individuals. As a respected institution in the healthcare sector, it is dedicated to promoting comfort, safety, and a supportive atmosphere for its residents. The facility highly values teamwork among its employees and prioritizes exceptional customer service both over the phone and in person. The establishment fosters an environment where staff members uphold residents' rights and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, ensuring that every resident receives dignified and respectful care. This position is a PRN (as needed) role, meaning that the availability to work flexible hours is essential depending on the facility's needs.
The role primarily requires an individual who will manage all incoming telephone calls and assist visitors entering the facility. Serving as the first point of contact, this person must demonstrate exemplary customer service skills and courtesy while answering calls and providing directions or support to visitors. The receptionist will operate the telephone switchboard, handle paging systems, and ensure calls are directed promptly and accurately. Additionally, this role involves greeting visitors with a warm and professional demeanor, guiding them as necessary, and ensuring all guests and vendors adhere to the sign-in protocols.
Beyond phone and visitor management, the role encompasses various clerical responsibilities such as assisting administrators with special projects, handling mail and filing tasks, preparing informational materials like brochures for visitors, and managing supply orders when directed. The incumbent must maintain an organized and neat workspace while demonstrating keen awareness of the environment, especially focusing on the facility's front entrance to provide attentive service.
The successful candidate in this position will possess excellent communication skills, self-discipline, and patience along with a genuine interest in caring for elderly and disabled people. In addition to administrative skills, they must be familiar with important safety procedures including standard precautions, exposure control plans, fire drills, and evacuation protocols. Maintaining confidentiality and protecting residents from neglect or abuse is critical to this role. This position requires someone who is highly organized, detailed, and able to handle various responsibilities efficiently while upholding the core values of the healthcare facility.
This PRN receptionist role offers a unique opportunity for individuals who want to contribute meaningfully to a compassionate healthcare environment while gaining experience in clerical and customer service functions. It is ideal for those who are adaptable and can work on an as-needed basis to support the facility's daily operations and ensure welcoming, efficient communication channels for both visitors and staff. This position plays a vital role in fostering a hospitable atmosphere and enhancing the overall experience of residents, visitors, and personnel alike.
