The Receptionist role at Life Care plays an integral part in the smooth operation of the facility by serving as the first point of contact for visitors and patients, both in person and over the phone. This position demands a high level of professionalism, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to handle multiple clerical tasks efficiently. The Receptionist is essential to supporting the facility’s clerical operations and ensuring visitors and patients feel welcomed and respected from the moment they enter the premises or make contact via phone.

In this role, the Receptionist must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communications, enabling them to manage administrative duties effectively. Additionally, the individual must be capable of making independent decisions when necessary and be knowledgeable about the regulations and procedures underpinning a post-acute care environment. Upholding Life Care’s mission and values, the Receptionist is also responsible for confidentiality, maintaining professional relationships, and adhering to all compliance and behavior standards.

The Receptionist will handle a variety of essential functions that go beyond simple greeting responsibilities. They will operate the facility's phone and paging systems, assist with emergency patient evacuation, and exhibit dependable attendance and strong reasoning skills. Their role requires active communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to enhance overall facility function and patient care. Physical requirements include the ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently throughout the workday, reflecting the dynamic nature of the healthcare setting.

Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Successfully completed a secretarial science program from accredited college or university or have a minimum of six months experience in a clerical role
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
  • Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility
  • Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
  • Perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to patient rights, and safety and sanitation
  • Maintain professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc
  • Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and or confidential information
  • Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
  • Display integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's Code of Conduct and complete mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training
