Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED
  • one year of customer service or receptionist experience with public contact
  • obtain CPR certification within one year of hire
  • ability to interact well with a diverse population
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • proficiency with office equipment and software
  • ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • on-site work availability
  • able to lift up to 25 pounds

Job Duties

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external customers
  • answer and manage phone calls and inquiries
  • greet and welcome visitors professionally
  • direct visitors to appropriate divisions or personnel
  • issue security badges to visitors and contractors
  • provide general information about SMFR functions and programs
  • provide administrative support including preparation for hiring processes and orientations
  • distribute mail and deliveries
  • coordinate pool car reservations
  • assist in event coordination including room bookings and preparation of materials
  • maintain office equipment and supplies
  • compose letters, purchase orders, and reports
  • schedule station visits, ride-alongs, and parades
  • assist with fulfilling open records requests
  • perform other duties as assigned
