Specializing in ready mix concrete, concrete blocks, rebar, and various building materials, Preferred Materials supports a diverse clientele that includes municipalities, developers, architects, engineers, contractors, builders, and suppliers. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, the company operates in five key Florida markets, delivering top-quality products and exceptional customer service throughout the state. Known for its strong commitment to safety and employee well-being, Preferred Materials fosters a workplace where safety is paramount and all employees are encouraged to take personal responsibility for maintaining a secure working environment. The reputation of Preferred Materials as a great place to work is deeply rooted in its people-centric culture and adherence to high-quality standards in its product offerings and services.
This job opening is for the position of Ready Mix Driver located in Melbourne, Florida. As a Ready Mix Driver, your primary responsibility will be to operate concrete mixer trucks to various work sites, ensuring timely and safe transportation and delivery of concrete loads. This role demands a strong focus on safety, given the nature of the work involving driving heavy vehicles and working in construction environments that may present uneven or slippery surfaces. The role also encompasses the upkeep of the truck by hosing down rigs, handling the attachment and removal of extension chutes that can weigh between thirty to fifty pounds, and performing equipment maintenance such as oiling, greasing, and basic mechanical adjustments. The physical requirements of this position include regular lifting of weights up to 50 pounds and enduring various physical postures such as climbing, bending, stooping, and stretching.
The Ready Mix Driver must be prepared for varying weather conditions, including exposure to extremes of hot and cold temperatures, and must be willing to work overtime when necessary. Passing a DOT physical and drug screening is mandatory, alongside adherence to company safety policies and trucking regulations. Candidates must hold a valid Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B) with the appropriate endorsements for combination vehicles in compliance with 49 CFR 383.91. This position demands reliability, professionalism, and the ability to communicate effectively within the construction and delivery environment.
Preferred Materials offers a competitive employment package including a solid base pay and a comprehensive range of medical, dental, and disability benefits. Employees have access to a group retirement savings program and health and wellness initiatives aimed at promoting overall well-being. Furthermore, Preferred Materials fosters an inclusive culture that emphasizes opportunities for growth, development, and internal promotion, ensuring that motivated team members can build a rewarding career within the company and the broader CRH family.
CRH is a global conglomerate with a long and distinguished heritage, encompassing hundreds of family businesses, regional companies, and large enterprises. This structure allows employees to enjoy the benefits of working in a small company environment with the expansive career prospects of a large international organization. CRH and its divisions, including Preferred Materials, are committed to equal employment opportunities and affirmative action, welcoming applications from a diverse range of candidates regardless of race, gender, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic under applicable law.
