The Ready Mix Driver position at Builders Supply in Shreveport, Louisiana, is a skilled role responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of ready mix concrete to construction projects, company-owned facilities, and various customers. This role demands great attention to safety and adherence to company policies and DOT regulations. The driver will operate ready mix trucks to deliver concrete to both industrial and residential sites, following dispatch instructions and maintaining vehicle and delivery documentation. The position requires working independently with occasional supervision, ensuring product quality, performing minor maintenance, and keeping vehicles clean and orderly. Successful candidates will play a vital role in supporting the infrastructure of Louisiana by facilitating the reliable delivery of building materials to essential projects.
This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, 2 years of preferred mixer truck driving experience, and a valid driver’s license with CDL A or B. The role demands physical stamina to perform tasks such as climbing, bending, lifting, and operating complex equipment safely under various weather conditions. The driver must comply with OSHA and MSHA safety regulations and be prepared to wear personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety shoes, and glasses. They must exhibit professionalism and courtesy towards supervisors, coworkers, and the public and have the willingness to work nights, weekends, and travel away from home when necessary.

Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years in age or older
- Must pass DOT physical, drug screen and criminal background check
- Must possess valid DOT medical card
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors
- Must display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public
- Must maintain current driver’s license that meets state requirements including CDL, Class A and/or B with air brake endorsement, possible hazmat and tanker endorsements
- MVR must meet company and DOT standards
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary
- Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA including Hard Hat, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, and Safety Glasses
- Compliance with all OSHA and/or MSHA regulations
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Minimum of 2 years experience driving mixer truck preferred
- Must have a valid driver’s license and must maintain a CDL A or CDL B license
- Ability to learn operational knowledge and skills of mixer truck and related equipment
- Ability to read, write and do basic mathematical calculations
- Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently under various conditions
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently with attention to detail
- Familiarity with securing heavy equipment and over-dimensional loads
- Ability to professionally interact with customers and assist with payments and issues
Job Duties
- Perform daily pre/post trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines
- Load and unload equipment of materials
- Monitor various gauges during operation of vehicle
- Maintain daily vehicle mileage logs
- Properly follow all company policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
- Obey applicable laws and follow dispatch instructions
- Assure product quality to the best of ability
- Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment
- Keep vehicle clean and in orderly condition
- Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required
- Other duties as assigned
