Job Description

GCC is a world-class company that operates in the construction industry, specializing in the production, distribution, and marketing of cement, ready-mixed concrete, aggregates, and innovative construction-related products. Serving both Mexico and the United States, GCC has established itself as a market leader known for its culture of innovation, high performance, and uncompromising commitment to safety. The company’s portfolio of products primarily includes gray Portland cement, mortar, premixed concrete, concrete blocks, plaster, aggregates, and other essential construction materials that support a wide range of infrastructure and building projects.

At GCC, employees are recognized as their most valuable asset. The company fosters a collaborative and inclusive culture designed to promote internal career growth and professional development. Being part of GCC means joining a family-oriented workplace where the corporate vision focuses on creating significant value for construction partners and ensuring sustainable, long-term growth. Employees can expect to work in an environment where safety, innovation, and customer satisfaction are top priorities. GCC also adheres to equal opportunity employment practices, ensuring that all qualified applicants receive fair consideration without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, or any protected status.

The role of the Ready-Mix Concrete Truck Driver is an essential part of GCC's operations. This position requires a Class A or B CDL (Commercial Driver's License) and involves driving a truck equipped with a concrete mixer to deliver concrete mix to various job sites. The driver plays a key role in ensuring timely and accurate deliveries by performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintaining the truck and equipment, and adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Each day, the driver is responsible for filling the water tank, calculating the correct mix, and navigating the most efficient routes to comply with schedule demands.

Drivers must deliver concrete with the proper slump and specifications required by customers or job managers, necessitating a high degree of skill in maneuvering the truck under challenging job site conditions, often involving unstable terrain. Additionally, drivers may need to add admixtures, fibers, cement, or colors either at the plant or on location to meet customer specifications. Upon delivery, the driver safely operates discharge chutes and cleans equipment thoroughly at the end of the shift using appropriate cleaning solutions.

Effective communication is vital for this role. Ready-mix drivers interact regularly with dispatch through radios and signaling systems to update their status, ensure smooth operations, and respond to scheduling changes. Drivers are also expected to maintain professionalism by handling cash transactions, interacting diplomatically with customers and coworkers, and maintaining operational safety at all times. This role demands physical stamina to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and operate in extreme weather conditions, with typical workdays extending to 10 hours for 4 to 6 days per week.

GCC offers a very competitive benefits program including paid time off, medical, dental, vision insurance, short and long-term disability plans, and a 401K retirement plan. Working at GCC means being part of an organization that values stability, sustainability, and the professional growth of its employees while contributing to the construction industry’s future. Join the GCC family and experience a fulfilling career with opportunities for advancement and a company vision rooted in partnership and excellence.
