The Ready Mix Driver position with All Ohio Ready Mix, part of The Shelly Company, is an exciting opportunity for skilled and safety-conscious drivers in Toledo, Ohio. This role is pivotal in delivering ready-mixed concrete to construction sites and ensuring customer satisfaction through careful handling and timely deliveries. The drivers operate concrete mixer trucks designed to manufacture, transport, and discharge concrete, often to complex or congested job sites. The position demands professional and responsible operation of commercial vehicles, adherence to OSHA and FMCSA safety regulations, and collaboration with dispatchers and plant managers to coordinate deliveries efficiently. Drivers must maintain truck cleanliness, perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and sometimes handle additional yard work. A minimum Class B CDL license is required for this role. Job Requirements

  • A minimum Class B CDL
  • Valid DOT medical card
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum 1 year related experience or training or equivalent combo of education and experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety and operating instructions
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends
  • Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner without direct supervision
  • Strict adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Timely and regular attendance
  • Ability to handle physical demands including lifting 50 pounds
  • Must wear required personal protective equipment as per OSHA and MSHA

Job Qualifications

  • Must possess valid minimum Class B CDL
  • High school diploma preferred or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals
  • Strong communication skills to effectively present information to customers and coworkers
  • Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with units of measure
  • Ability to apply common sense and carry out simple instructions
  • Competence in handling job-related stressful situations
  • Valid DOT medical card

Job Duties

  • Work safely and efficiently
  • Safely maintain work area and vehicle in a clean and orderly condition
  • Comply with all OSHA and USDOT/FMCSA safe-operating practices
  • Use personal protective equipment as directed
  • Operate ready-mix concrete truck to deliver to construction sites safely and efficiently
  • Maintain communication with dispatcher or plant manager regarding deliveries
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicle and report maintenance issues
  • Maintain cleanliness of the truck including rinsing drum before and after deliveries
  • Collect money from customers and record transactions
  • Respond to customer questions related to basic product knowledge and concrete instructions
  • Utilize tablet and computer skills to manage routing and deliveries
  • Perform additional functions such as yard work, sweeping, shoveling, and truck or plant maintenance as assigned
