Job Description

Preferred Materials - Concrete Division is a premier supplier of ready mix concrete, concrete block, rebar, and various building materials within the state of Florida. As part of CRH South Division, this established company operates out of Tampa, Florida, serving five key Florida markets including Debary. Preferred Materials caters to a broad clientele such as municipalities, developers, architects, engineers, contractors, builders, and suppliers with a wide range of high-quality construction products. Committed to excellence, the company maintains a strong safety culture where employees actively take responsibility for their own safety, creating a secure and supportive work environment for all staff members.

The role of the Ready Mix Driver at Preferred Materials is integral to ensuring smooth operations and timely delivery of concrete to work sites. This position involves driving a mixer truck primarily to and from the plant and assigned construction locations under various conditions, including uneven and slippery terrain. The driver is responsible for not just transportation but also ensuring the truck is properly maintained by hosing it down regularly. This role demands physical strength and stamina, as regularly lifting materials weighing between 25 to 50 pounds and handling equipment attachments such as extension chutes is required. Drivers must be comfortable using hand tools like wrenches, screwdrivers, and shovels, and adept at operating and making necessary adjustments to the machinery they use.

The Ready Mix Driver position entails working in various weather conditions, sometimes extreme heat or cold, while adhering strictly to company safety policies and legal safety standards including passing DOT physicals and drug screenings. Overtime work may also be necessary to meet project deadlines. This role requires a valid Class A or B commercial driver's license and compliance with all Department of Transportation regulations under 49 CFR 383.91. Beyond driving skills, the ideal candidate should have good interpersonal skills to maintain respectful relationships with customers and colleagues alike. Typical duties include unloading concrete at job sites, maneuvering heavy extension parts, and maintaining the mixer truck's operational condition.

Preferred Materials offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package that supports the health and financial well-being of its employees. Benefits include medical, dental, and disability insurance, group retirement savings programs, health and wellness initiatives, and opportunities for personal growth and internal promotion within the company. Working here means joining a diverse and inclusive team that values each employee's contribution and encourages career development within a large international organization culture, while maintaining a small company feel. This position presents an opportunity for candidates seeking a challenging and rewarding career in the construction materials industry.
