Job Description

Cemstone is a reputable and long-established company known for providing high-quality ready-mix concrete products and exceptional service in the upper Midwest. For nearly a century, this family-owned business has played a pivotal role in constructing numerous structures, demonstrating its steadfast commitment to core values of quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction. Cemstone takes pride in delivering durable materials that support diverse construction projects, from residential to commercial and infrastructure developments, ensuring every delivery meets stringent standards of excellence and timeliness. With a rich history rooted in community values and a strong track record of industry expertise, Cemstone continues to foster a supportive work environment that encourages growth and development among its employees.

The role of a Ready-Mix Driver at Cemstone presents an exciting opportunity for individuals who are eager to contribute to the construction sector by delivering ready-mixed concrete and related products efficiently and safely. This position requires a responsible and skilled driver who understands the constraints of working with a perishable product such as ready-mixed concrete, necessitating timely deliveries within specific proximities to job sites. Drivers at Cemstone enjoy a work-life balance by returning home nightly and benefit from a structured schedule that may involve five days a week, occasionally extending beyond ten hours or requiring overtime including Saturdays based on business demand. The company provides competitive wages along with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and dental coverage, paid training, 401k plans with company match, tuition and CDL reimbursement, and paid time off. Drivers start and end their shifts at the same location, enhancing their daily routine stability.

In this role, the Ready-Mix Driver is responsible for a variety of tasks critical to the successful delivery and handling of concrete. Duties include conducting pre- and post-trip inspections in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations, managing water tanks and mixer operations to ensure concrete is correctly loaded and transported, and safely maneuvering trucks in potentially unstable ground conditions at job sites. The driver must also be adept at communicating effectively with dispatch via two-way radios and other equipment, handling paper documentation and cash transactions, and maintaining the cleanliness and operational readiness of their vehicle. Furthermore, drivers must add necessary admixtures and ancillary products as instructed and ensure the proper discharge and washing of chutes after use. They play a key role in upholding the company’s image through professionalism and maintaining positive relationships with peers, suppliers, and customers.

Cemstone’s commitment to employee development is demonstrated through its comprehensive training programs and ongoing support designed to ensure drivers are well-prepared to meet industry standards and company policies. The company also emphasizes safety and regulatory compliance, safeguarding both its workforce and customers. Those joining Cemstone as Ready-Mix Drivers become part of a team that values dedication, reliability, and professionalism, while enjoying numerous work benefits that promote job satisfaction and career longevity.
