Razzoo's Cajun Cafe is a vibrant full-service restaurant renowned for its warm hospitality and authentic Cajun cuisine. Established as a community favorite, Razzoo's prides itself on delivering a welcoming and lively dining experience to guests of all ages. The position available is for a Host/Hostess, a crucial role that serves as the first point of contact for guests entering the restaurant. This role is vital in setting the tone for the guest's dining experience by providing a warm and courteous welcome. The Host/Hostess is responsible for greeting guests, managing table seating arrangements, and handling phone communications. The ability to deliver exceptional hospitality, manage wait lists efficiently, and maintain a clean and inviting entrance area are essential functions of the role.
In this position, the Host/Hostess will engage directly with guests by opening doors, delivering menus, answering questions about menu items, and suggesting popular dishes to enhance the dining experience. Handling call-ahead and reservation policies with professionalism is also part of the responsibilities. The role requires attentiveness to guests' needs, including assisting with seating children or guests with special needs, and ensuring guests feel comfortable during any waiting period.
Additionally, the Host/Hostess supports service staff by refilling beverages, clearing tables, and helping maintain cleanliness throughout the dining area. Maintaining hygiene standards, especially hand washing and safe food handling, is critical. The position also involves some light cleaning duties, monitoring restrooms, and contributing to a safe, clean environment by reporting any unsafe conditions to management.
Razzoo's values teamwork and encourages its hosts to participate in special events such as birthday celebrations, creating memorable moments for guests. Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations as well as Razzoo's internal policies is mandatory. While experience in a full-service restaurant is helpful, it is not required as Razzoo provides comprehensive training for this position. Candidates must have a Food Safety Handling Certification and be of legal working age.
The role demands physical stamina to stand or walk for the entire shift, the ability to lift up to 20 pounds, and sharp sensory awareness to work effectively in a fast-paced, noisy environment. The working conditions include standing at the restaurant entrance and navigating narrow spaces amidst guests and co-workers. Job Requirements

Job Duties
- Greet guests in a warm, friendly and courteous manner
- Open door for guests as they enter and exit the restaurant
- Manage and promote the specific call-ahead/reservation policies of the restaurant
- Make guests comfortable while waiting
- Manage wait list quoting accurate wait times
- Select appropriate station and table or booth
- Take guests to selected table/booth
- Provide menu to guests
- Describe menu items if requested by guest
- Suggest menu items if appropriate
- Answer telephones and follow phone procedures
- Take phone To-Go orders and deliver to bartender
- Defer all guest questions regarding allergies to the manager on duty
- Assist guests in seating of small children or special needs guests
- Acknowledge guests who are leaving and invite them to return
- Keep entrance area clean and stocked
- Be observant of landscape and pick up trash as necessary
- Check restrooms periodically
- wipe counters, clean windows and pick up trash as necessary
- Provide children with a balloon, children's menu and crayons
- Assist service staff by refilling beverages, clearing plates, and helping to maintain tables and serve guests
- Wash and sanitize hands after removing trash, eating and drinking, using the bathroom, touching own face or hair, or handling food prep
- Alert appropriate personnel to immediately empty trash cans after broken glass has been disposed in them
- Maintain a clean and safe environment reporting any unsafe procedures or conditions to anyone in management
- Participate in executing birthday celebrations
- Comply with all applicable federal, state and local statutes as well as Razzoo's policies and procedures
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested by a manager at any time
