Job Requirements

  • FAA/airport required identification/seals or authorizations
  • Must be able to pass SIDA airport and training tests
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Possess basic computer literacy
  • Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily with or without accommodations

  • Ability to understand and react to verbal and visual commands and safety warnings
  • Ability to read and interpret aircraft load sheets, baggage tags, and cargo labels
  • Effective communication skills

  • Ability to operate ground support equipment

Job Duties

  • Guide inbound and outbound airplanes to and from the gate
  • Lift, load, unload, and transport passenger bags and cargo to/from aircraft, bag carts, dollies, and conveyor belts
  • Drive and/or operate ground support equipment such as tow tractors, tow bars, belt loaders, container loaders, baggage tugs
  • Maintain safety and security on the ramp and practice all safety policies and procedures
  • Communicate efficiently with ground personnel and flight crews
  • Maintain an understanding of and follow all applicable federal, state, airport, and company regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Work with other departments to ensure on-time performance of flights
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Stand, lift, bend, stoop, walk, crawl, push, and pull for extended periods
  • Push, pull, lift, and load up to 70 pounds regularly
  • Ascend/descend jet-way stairs carrying baggage
  • Read and interpret aircraft load sheets, checked baggage tags, and cargo labels
  • Understand and react to verbal and visual commands and safety warnings with or without sight or visual aid assistance
  • Work outside in all types of weather and around jet and machinery noises
